The inaugural Design Joburg, which takes place from 12-14 May, will showcase the best local and international design brands in a fresh and unique way that aims to fire up enthusiasm and conversation. But don’t expect your regular expo-style show. Design Joburg sees the return of South Africa’s benchmark decorating show, Rooms on View, as a show-within-a-show. One of the most popular events in the industry’s history, Rooms on View will return reinvigorated and supersized to present the latest in trending décor. Read more here

The WeDesign2016 Conference, taking place in Durban on 8 July 2016, features Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan as one of the keynote speakers, joined by international speakers, Felipe Leal, immediate past Minister of Urbanism for Mexico City and Kelvin Campbell, chair of Smart Urbanism in London.
Hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Institute for Architecture (KZNIA), the prime objective of the conference is to put the radical transformation of our cities, towns and villages at the very top of the national agenda and embed it in the popular and collective consciousness.

Green Building Convention 2016

The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) recently announced the keynote speakers for this year’s Green Building Convention that will take place from 26-28 July in Sandton.
“The GBCSA hosts the event and CEO Brian Wilkinson says the keynote speakers – Dr Ian McCallum, John Elkington, Paul Clements-Hunt, Mario Molina, Jeff Speck, Terri Wills and Evan Rice – will share their unique expertise to guide Africa and the world towards a thriving future for all.”

The Green Building Convention 2015

The annual Green Building Convention took place from 2-6 November at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. On the programme, this year was a variety of events, including tours, educational courses, social events and high-profile speakers. The convention created the platform to share knowledge and engage in compelling debate.

Architecture ZA Conference 2015

Architects and designers from around the world will gather in Johannesburg from the 24-26th of September for the fifth Architecture ZA Conference (AZA2015).
This year’s theme is Future City and will focus on the development of Johannesburg and the shaping of South Africa’s urban landscape for positive change and economic development. The conference enables architects and designers from around the world to discuss matters of general interest and identify many concerns in the industry and work together towards solutions. Two main questions will be under debate this year, 1) How have cities been shaped and how will they continue to shape our modern world? 2) What are the key issues challenging future cities, in particular, South African cities, and how can they be overcome using innovative, elegant solutions?
